To help you get started, we’d like to answer the most frequently asked questions regarding the Evidence Express®!
How can the Evidence Express® help me be a better evidence-based practitioner?
Relevant clinical research is being published virtually every month to support physical therapy practice. Research in our profession is booming! This is great news since high quality can accurately guide decision-making in the care of our patients and clients. However, this poses a problem for anyone trying to keep up! Unfortunately, many traditional EBP courses convey the idea that to be an effective EBP practitioner, you have to ‘read the journals’, apparently from cover to cover. And shame on you if you can’t keep up!
In fact, nothing could be further from the truth! Evidence-based practice is about learning to be an efficient information consumer. The reality is that even if you read an article every day, you’ll still be 82 centuries behind in your reading after only 1 year! So, no matter how hard you may have tried, it’s virtually impossible to keep up. The answer? Just give up now and stop beating yourself up about it.
The key to being an effective information consumer is NOT finding the time to read your favorite research journals from cover to cover. Don’t let anyone fool you! Even the most avid researchers don’t do this! Heck, we can’t remember the last time we read an article from cover to cover, including our own!The key to being an effective information consumer is being able to quickly scan the latest journals and news and figure out what’s most important for your practice. Although there are a growing number of products available to the physician community, there are very few easy-to-use services pertinent to rehabilitation. Should I get the Evidence Express® Individual or the Evidence Express® Enterprise version?
The version of the Evidence Express® that is best for you will depend on several factors, not the least of which is your ability to convince your employer or other organization to sponsor their own version of the Evidence Express® in the hopes that you can get a free ride! In all seriousness though, here are some tips:
The Evidence Express® Individual is best for:
- Powers users and control freaks. Feed selections for Evidence Express® Enterprise accounts apply to all subscribers within that client’s account. If you are a power user or a control freak like we are, you will definitely prefer the Evidence Express® Individual.
The Evidence Express® Enterprise is best for:
- Any rehabilitation company, private practice, hospital, or other organization (professional association, educational program, alumni groups, etc.) who would like offer their own branded version of Evidence Express®. You get to brand the Evidence Express® Enterprise emails with your own logo, increasing your brand awareness while simultaneously spreading goodwill to your subscribers. It’s a perfect service to help members of your group keep up with current evidence! What better gift to give…one that will give back to you ten-fold!
All versions of the Evidence Express® come with the ability to customize your feeds! Simply pick the template that best suits your primary practice area of interest, and you're off! This initial set of feeds will include the most popular journals and news feeds based on your selected area of interest. You can further customize the feeds you receive by adding additional selections from an entire family of medical journals, MyPhysicalTherapySpace communities, and news feeds using a very easy to use administrative tool contained within your MyEIM Resource Center. You can also recommend any new feeds you would like to see added. One of the other very cool aspects is that you can add feeds from your favorite rehabilitation researchers and be automatically notified with an abstract of their article! If you don’t see your favorite journal, researcher, or other information source on the list, no problem! As long as it has a RSS feed, we can add it. Make recommendations by sending an email to evidenceexpress@evidenceinmotion.com or click on the 'Suggest Feed' option in the Evidence Express® administrative tool in your MyEIM Resource Center. We do our best to add any new feeds within 1 week. Bottom line, you are in the driver's seat and can tailor your email updates to best match your interests! Click here to learn more!

Is the set-up fee for Evidence Express® Enterprise clients a one-time fee?
Yes, the set-up fee is a one-time fee of $250 for each Evidence Express® Enterprise type that you wish to start (Ortho/Sports, Geriatric/Acute Care/ Neurologic, etc.). This fee is never charged again unless you elect to set up another Evidence Express® type at some point during your subscription. Each type includes a pre-determined ‘starter set’ of feeds based on the practice specialty area. Each version can still be fully customized from this initial starter set at the client’s discretion. Clients have full control over their template and feed selection via the administrative controls.
Is there a prorated amount between the different email subscription levels (ie, between 100 and 150, 150 and 200, etc.) for Evidence Express Enterprise® clients?
Not really. The different levels are separated by 50 email increments to allow our Evidence Express® Enterprise clients a reasonable cushion to add new members throughout the year without paying for too many excess number of emails. Should you need more than your allotted emails during the year, we would simply invoice you the difference between your current email subscription level and the next level up. Any increase in email subscription level during the year would be kept on the same billing cycle as the original subscription level, otherwise the administrative management of which emails are on which year cycle would require a substantial increase in administrative burden and subsequent increase in cost of the service. For the same reason, we do not offer the option to add email addresses on a ‘one-off basis’ (ie, one at a time).
Does the daily Evidence Express® email include advertising?
We are considering incorporating advertising into the Evidence Express® emails but have not done so to date. Although the exact model has yet to be determined, we will likely offer an option for advertisers to sponsor the Evidence Express® emails on a per week and/or per month basis in which their ad is included in all emails during that period of time. We will limit the number of ads in each email to 1-3 selected ads. They would be ‘skyscraper’ type ads placed in the right hand margin of the emails and would be positioned so as not to interfere with the readability and functionality of the emails. Existing Evidence Express® Enterprise clients will receive a 10% discount on advertising rates. We will also offer clients an option to opt out of advertising for an additional fee.
How do I add feeds if I am subscribed to the Evidence Express® Enterprise?
Simply let the administrator of your company/organization’s Evidence Express® Enterprise account know which feeds you’d like to see deleted or added. The feed selections apply to all subscribers within that client’s account. So, if you are a power user or a control freak like we are, you will definitely prefer the Evidence Express® Individual.
How do I customize my feeds once I select my primary area of interest?
It’s very easy! If you have the Evidence Express® Individual version, you can update your feed selections from anywhere in the world. Simply login to your MyEIM account and access the easy-to-use Evidence Express® administrative tool in your Resource Center.
Does a subscription to the Evidence Express give me access to the full text article?
Providing access to full text would make the Evidence Express cost prohibitive (on the order of hundreds of dollars per year per user depending on volume). If you are an APTA member, you can access many full text articles via the 'Open Door' member benefit. Many APTA members are not yet aware they have this benefit.

What new technology do I have to learn to be able to use the Evidence Express®?
Do you know how to open an email and read it? If so, you’ve already learned everything you need to know! The Evidence Express® is automatically delivered to the email address of your choice in a single daily email. Simply sign up, sit back, and passively keep up with your favorite journals and news feeds that will help you provide evidence-based care to your patients and clients!
I’d like to know more about the hamsters running around inside the Evidence Express® that make it work?
Ok, if you’re a geek and have to know, the engine underlying the Evidence Express® is driven by something called Really Simple Syndication feeds (more commonly known as RSS) and OPML files. RSS is analogous to the 21st century’s printing press. Click here to learn more about RSS. OPML files equate to RSS feeds on steroids, essentially RSS feeds bundled together. Click here to learn more about OPML. Add in XML language, and you’re getting close to the finished product! Granted, the technology underlying RSS feeds, OPML files, and XML can be rather complex. And c’mon, health care professionals in general are not exactly known for their technology prowess! The good news is that we’ve done all the hard stuff for you. You don’t have to know an RSS feed from a hole in the ground to make the Evidence Express® work for you! Let us do the ‘heavy lifting'. You should be spending your time taking care of your patients and clients!
What if I do not have email?
Hey, let’s not beat around the bush. You are out of luck! C’mon, evidence-based practice requires at least a minimal level of technological savvy, of which email is the bare minimum necessary because there is no paper version. If you don’t have email, perhaps you would have been better suited for the dinosaur age.:) Seriously, we’d be glad to help you get set up on any number of free email services if you’d like, Just send us an email…oh, forgot you don’t have one! How much time does it take to scan the Evidence Express® email each day?
In less than 5 minutes per day, you can scan all of the relevant feeds from your top journals and news feeds pertinent to EBP. You will be well on your way to honing your skills as a savvy information consumer and avid lifelong learner!
How do I send information to someone who might be interested in sponsoring their own version of the Evidence Express® Enterprise?
If you’d like to send an email to some influential person you know who might be interested in sponsoring their own Evidence Express® Enterprise (typically someone who controls the purse strings…no, not your spouse!), click here. Of course, be sure to ask for a free ride on this company/organization’s dime.
How much does it cost?

Why do I have to enter my credit card information for your free trial?
Payment is required up front, in order to verify your credit card. If you want to cancel your account, simply let us know within the first week and we will refund the full amount of your initial payment. This is standard procedure for ‘free trial’ services due to the increased logistics of setting up charges after the free trial has expired. It would require a substantial increase in administrative burden and subsequent increase in cost of the service.
How long is the free trial, and what should I do if I wish to cancel?
The free trial is one week. If you wish to cancel within that time frame, contact us via email or phone at 1-888-709-7096 and we will refund your initial payment and cancel your account.
Will I get bombarded with emails?
If you are like us, you are already overwhelmed with too many emails. The great part of the Evidence Express® is that you will only receive a single daily email that includes the most recent updates from your favorite journals and news feeds pertinent to evidence-based physical therapy practice. It doesn’t get any easier!
Do you share our email addresses with 3rd parties such as advertisers?
Absolutely not! No jokes here…we take your privacy extremely seriously and will never share or sell your information to any 3rd party. Click here to view our privacy policy.
I absolutely loathe marketing my referral sources with doughnuts and cookies (don’t worry, they hate it more than you!). I am interested in distinguishing my practice as an EBP provider to my referral sources. Do you have a version of the Evidence Express® that could be targeted to my referral sources?
Well, I’m glad you asked. We sure do. We are excited to offer both the Evidence Express® MD Ortho and Evidence Express® MD Family Practice/Internal Med. The Evidence Express® MD is packed with the most popular journal and news feeds that would be of interest to orthopaedists or family practitioners/internists! How do I subscribe?
Click here to get your free trial started today! If you are not satisfied, cancel your subscription at anytime before the free trial expires, and your credit card will not be charged.
I am not receiving my Evidence Express(reg) emails. Please help me troubleshoot why this may be the case.
Your Evidence Express email will come from donotreply@evidenceinmotion.com. If you are not receiving your email, first, check your ‘junk’ folder. The emails may be there. To prevent the emails from being deleted or added to your ‘junk’ folder, be sure to add donotreply@evidenceinmotion.com to your ‘safelist’ and address book. If you still do not receive the email, confirm that the email address is spelled correctly. It can be easily misspelled by leaving out an 'e'. Note the two e's that are side-by-side in the middle of the address. These steps should resolve the issue. If you are still having issues, send us an email to evidenceexpress@evidenceinmotion.com, and we can troubleshoot the issue further.
What if my Evidence Express email is missing all the links and looks like a bunch of gibberish?
Check the email settings of your preferred email program, and be certain that you are allowing HTML email to be received.
What if I can't click on the links containted in my Evidence Express email?
Most computers security settings are set to block links by default. After clicking on a link, a bar may appear towards the top of the email stating that the links have been blocked. You can click that bar and choose "Allow Links". Alternatively, you can try holding down the CTRL button on your keyboard, and click on the links. This will usually bypass your security settings and allow you to click on the link. Be sure to hold down CTRL on your keyboard until your internet browser opens. Also, if you add "donotreply@evidenceinmotion.com" to your address book and your safelist (or whitelist), this may activate links in the future, as your computer will consider those emails from a "safe sender".
I previously subscribed via the FeedBlitz service you offered and did not have to pay. Why is there now a cost?
Unlike the previous version we hosted via FeedBlitz, there will be a small monthly subscription fee. We are offering the service at a tremendous value and are confident that you will find the additional functionality, ease of use, and limitless ability to customize your content selection well worth the small investment that you make! What is EBP worth to your patients and clients?
What about the emails from FeedBlitz that I used to receive?
The current FeedBlitz email system will continue to function until April 18, 2007, after which you will need to subscribe to the the Evidence Express® to avoid interruption in the delivery of your favorite journals and news feeds.
