Description

We all need to be experts in maximizing healthy aging. This one-day seminar coupled with some additional online materials will expose the participants to current best evidence on managing common problems in older adults. Participants will leave the course with a greater understanding of best practice in physical therapy management of our aging population. Exposure to the benefits and opportunities of lifelong learning through courses, certifications, residencies, and fellowships will also be discussed. 10:00 – 10:15: Break

10:15 – Noon: Hip/Knee Osteoarthritis

Noon – 1:00: Break

1:00 – 2:00: Chronic Pain

2:00 – 3:00: Over Use of Medications

3:00 – 3:15: Break

3:15 – 4:30: Balance & Falls

4:30 – 5:30: Review/Q&A

Target Audience: Intermediate level course open to licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.

Credits: 12 contact hours (4 online and 8 on-site) from EIM Institute of Health Professions

Prerequisites: None

Appropriate dress: Casual.  Participants are asked to bring appropriate attire for lab sessions (i.e. shorts) and air-conditioned environments throughout the day (i.e. warm-up or work-out clothes).
