Executive Program in Private Practice Management w/Optional Postprofessional DPT

EIM students are exposed to a vast community of evidence-based practitioners, both as instructors and colleagues, all embracing best business practices in an Executive MBA-style format. The focus is on the operations management aspect of running a practice, with an optional postprofessional DPT clinical component requiring 4 additional courses in Radiology, Medical Screening, Pharmacology, and Evidence-based Practice. All programs begin in September of each year.

EIM, in partnership with the Private Practice Section of APTA and The Educational Institute for Private Practice Physical Therapy, is closely associated with many of the best academic programs and other key stakeholder groups in the physical therapy profession. PPS members receive a 7.5% discount on tuition.

The majority of the program happens wherever you happen to be, providing the flexibility to have a life while working, furthering your education, and developing lifelong relationships with faculty and fellow students.

The Objective 

A 12-month program of post-professional education for physical therapists designed to enhance the business savvy and sophistication of private practice physical therapy owners and managers with evidence-based best business practices which result in elevation of the role of physical therapy in health care delivery as well as the status of PT’s in the marketplace.

The Experience 

A combination of didactic and collaborative education experiences using a blend of distance learning, online courses, and on-site courses. You will develop documents specific to your practice to enhance the management of your operation. Coursework requires 4-6 hours per week, whenever it is convenient for you.

The Executive Program is also open to non- clinically trained participants wishing to gain practice management knowledge.

The Outcome

Executive Program courses are designed so that graduates will:

  • Grow as managers with a strong base of knowledge of evidence-based business and best practices.
  • Strengthen their practice to obtain strategic competitive advantages in the marketplace, thereby strengthening the private practice community.
  • Integrate and execute ‘best in class’ tools and practical techniques for all major aspects of private practice
  • Gain access to a network of private practitioners for long-term collaboration.
  • If desired, obtain the only postprofessional DPT with an operations management focus.

Other Fees All students are required to pay $100 application fee and materials/graduation fee of $450

Admission Requirements

  1. All students must be owners or managers in private physical therapy practices.
  2. All students accepted into the Program must be a PT or employed by a PT who has successfully completed an APTA accredited professional physical therapy curriculum. Office managers who are not PTs may apply if they have a bachelor’s degree or 5 years equivalent experience.
  3. All students must be a PT or employed by a PT with a current license to practice physical therapy. This license must not be under suspension, revocation, probationary status, or subject to disciplinary proceedings or inquiry.
  4. All students or their practice must be active members of the APTA.

Admission to the program is at the discretion of EIM.
