Users' Guide To The Musculoskeletal Examination FAQ

1 My Book doesn’t open. What should I do?

A
The book is a PDF format and requires the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Please download the Adobe Reader at: http://www.adobe.com/
2 Why does it take so long to open the book on the disk?

A
Files opened on a CD take longer to load because the CD player runs slower than your hard drive. You can speed up the opening of the book by copying the PDF file to your hard drive.
3 My movies and links don’t open from the book. What should I do?

A
There could be two reasons why this is happening. First, the movies in the book are a QuickTime format. Download the latest QuickTime player at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
The second reason could be that you have an older version of the Adobe reader. This book requires version 7 or higher. Please download the Adobe Reader at: http://www.adobe.com/
4 When I double-click the book on my Mac, the book opens in Preview. The movies don’t open when I click on them. What should I do?

A
Preview does not recognize the interactivity in this book. You  will need to either launch Adobe Reader on your Mac and, as shown in the image below, choose  File>Open> to open the book.

When I double-click on my Windows PC, it launches my default browser instead of Adobe Reader. how can I change that?

A.

This means that your Adobe Reader is set to open in your browser window instead of the Adobe Reader application. Follow these steps to deactivate the Adobe Reader in your default browser.

  1. Launch the Adobe Reader application
  2. Select the Edit menu
  3. Select Preferences.
  4. Uncheck the Display PDF in Browser checkbox.
  5. Click the Internet Settings Button.
  6. Select the Programs Tab.
  7. Click the Manage Add-ons button.
  8. Select Adobe PDF Reader Link.
  9. Click on the Disable radio button.
  10. Click on OK in the Manage Add-ons Status window.
Remember, you can always come back and enable
this plug-in if you change your mind.
  11. Click the OK button to close the Manage Add-ons dialog box.
  12. Click OK, to confirm the Internet Properties changes you just made
  13. And finally, click OK in the Adobe Reader Preferences window.

You are now ready to read your book in Adobe Reader.
